Add page numbers to PDF

How it works

Page numbers stamps a number onto every page of a PDF — the finishing touch on a report, a contract or a printed handout where people need to reference a specific sheet. You choose one of six positions, whether to show the total alongside the number, and which number to start from, so a document that is part of a larger set can continue the sequence instead of restarting at one. Numbering is done entirely in your browser and the PDF is never uploaded.

  1. Drop a PDF onto the page — a preview of the first pages appears straight away.
  2. Pick a position: top or bottom of the page, aligned left, centre or right — six combinations in total.
  3. Choose the format: plain “1, 2, 3 …”, or “1 / N” to print the number next to the document total, for example 3 / 10.
  4. Set the starting number — useful when this file continues a set — and pick a text size. Every page gets a number, the cover included, and the preview updates live so you can see exactly where each number lands.
  5. Press “Add page numbers” and download the numbered PDF.
