What split modes are available?

Two. "Custom ranges" splits by ranges you type, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10 - each range becomes its own PDF. "Every N pages" cuts the document into fixed-size chunks; enter 1 to save every page as a separate file.

Can I split a large PDF?

Yes, as long as your browser can open it. Because the file is never uploaded, there is no server limit on size or page count - only your device memory matters. The preview shows the first 30 pages, but splitting always covers the whole document.

Why did I get an error saying the PDF is protected against changes?

Some PDFs forbid modifications. The error message suggests the workaround: save a copy with Print -> Save as PDF, then split that copy. If the file is password-protected, unlock it first (see Unlock PDF).
