Convert audio files

Audio Converter turns one audio format into another: MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, ALAC, Opus, Vorbis, AIFF and WMA, from just about anything you can feed it. Video works as input too - we keep the sound and drop the picture, which is the quickest way to get the audio out of a recording, a lecture or a voice memo.

Your file is converted on our servers, which means it is uploaded and comes back converted. Nobody listens to it, nothing is trained on it, and both your original and the result are deleted automatically after about six hours.

The conversion itself is free, always - no credits are charged and there is no hourly allowance to run out. You do need an account, because the queue would otherwise be wide open to anyone on the internet. Choosing a format is mostly about where the file has to play: MP3 is understood by everything, AAC suits Apple devices and phones, Opus makes the smallest files, especially for speech, and FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF keep the audio lossless at the cost of size. Converting a lossy file into a lossless one does not bring back what the first encoder threw away - it only makes a bigger file.
