Turn text into speech

Text to speech reads what you write out loud and hands you the recording as a file. Paste an article, a script for a video, a lesson, a message or a note to yourself, choose the language and the voice, and you get an audio file you can play anywhere or drop straight into a video.

The reading is done on our servers, so your text is sent to us and the finished recording comes back. Nobody listens to it, nothing is trained on it, and both the text and the recording are deleted automatically after about six hours. You need an account, and the price follows the length of the text: the counter under the box shows how much of the limit you have used and exactly what the recording will cost, before you press anything.

Punctuation does more work here than people expect. Full stops and commas turn into pauses, a question mark lifts the end of a sentence, and a blank line between paragraphs gives a longer breath, so a text that reads well on paper usually sounds right too. Numbers, dates and short forms are read as written, so spell out anything you want said a particular way. A long piece is best done in parts: the limit exists because one very long text would hold up everyone else waiting, and shorter sections are easier to redo when you change a word.
